My Ayrtek Affinity Cricket Bat
« on: July 22, 2013, 01:34:56 PM »

Finally received my Affinity Cricket Bat today and I must say I am hugely impressed. Firstly let's talk about the bat, it's stickered up as an Ayrtek but it's hybrid between the Carbine and Arytek. It's got fourteen straightish grains, relatively evenly spaced and a bit of heartwood on the inside edge of the bat (my only regret, as I am a RH, but I am just being picky). Was told its about 2lb 11oz fully dressed but it picks up like 2lb 8oz. Haven't had a chance to try it out as yet but it pings off the mallet like a dream.

The only thing more impressive about my Ayrtek bat is the customer service I received from Marcus. Contacted him regarding purchasing one of his bats, and after a couple of emails he suggested custom making a bat for me. After week or so, he had a finished product for me. While I won't divulge the details of our transaction, I will say this, Marcus has gone beyond the boundaries of what a supplier will do for a customer.

I WILL definitely be a making a few more purchases in the future.

Looks really good. If it plays half as well as it looks, your onto a winner there.

Looks a fantastic bat - but those stickers look better in the flesh!

These will be - the Affiniti are high quality but obviously not cheap.
But these days most top quality sticks cost £300+

It's £325 I think, looks to be a top bat. :) I take it you're not a fan of the heartwood though. ;)

Don't mind heartwood, avoid it if possible, but hate knots on the playing area. There looks to be 2 big ones on there, might be the reflection or picture though.

Won't affect performance but I want serious looks for over £300 when I see some of the other bats on here for under £225

Ah right, that is true, you would want a clean blade with 9+ grains, and I think only one of my 3 £300+ bats has a clean blade with heartwood. The other is all sapwood with a minor imperfection near the edge, which is covered by tape anyways, and the other one is an Affinity with some slight markings. I used to think looks didn't matter at all, but I agree that when spending that kind of money, you would like a good looking bat! That being said, I don't mind small blemishes, as long as there are a decent number of grains and they are nicely spaced. :)

Do you have a profile shot Ilanz? I remember someone saying it was a mid-low sweetspot, then reading somewhere it was a mid-high sweetspot, so would be nice to have a proper confirmation. :)

Now that is nice, is that oiled ..... Looks great

How come you let him sell this one on hear under your sticker, I'd be asking why it doesn't look like that sample bat!! Or downgrade and charge a lot less.

Always wary of samples and initial batches from new brands as they try to get fine lookers in. After a year or so if they are still that quality then I'm convinced
