Can anyone advise where I can get my trainers spiked please.
There seem to be a few offering it on the net but does anyone recommend anyone in particular .

Shoe Doctor in taunton or Brian and Brenda seem to be the 2 most popular options

As good as these services are - my recomendation is that you buy a dedicated cricket shoe.
For example - if you buy a quality pair of trainers (even at £50) then get them spiked (£30) your outlay will allow you to buy a top of the range spike.

Having said that I love my spiked trainers and would do possibly get more when mine eventually die (in their third season so far)...

It's nice to have something different though, and if you already have a pair of trainers that are a candidate for this, then why not I suppose.

If you spike up running shoes though, are the toes strong enough?  This has been mentioned before, and I think Ryan said he made sure he spiked up shoes with a leather forefoot to that end - guess it's up to the individual.  Maybe tennis shoes would work better?

Personally I will stick to purpose made shoes. Think of the millions gone in to research and development behind purpose made shoes.

Unfortunately no matter how much is spent it seems even a lot of pros prefer their stuff done by the shoe doctor in Taunton. They all say ready made shoes are not fit for purpose nowadays.
So on merit I have driven to Taunton and as I was there over night, the Shoe Doctor turned mine around overnight and they are awesome.
Not only that , I got to meet some of the pros who are In there catching up over a drink

I think he meant of your shoes?

Also, I never advocated spiking your favourite running shoes, but if you have a pair of trainer/tennis shoes/running shoes kicking about that you barely use - why not spike them?  Something a bit different, and you are probably going to save money and get more use out of some shoes you probably otherwise wouldn't have.
