New Gray Nichs. at Meulemans
« on: July 26, 2013, 05:10:41 AM »

The smaller bat is the one I bought. it Has 42MM edges and weighs 2.8 the other monster is 3lb and is not a laminate. It took 5hrs to make because it would not fit in any of the vices or machinery.

will be putting up more pics when i get home. This is meulemans own model that they have done in conjuction with gray niks for a long time now. it is called tripple x and they go to melbourne in feb. every year to select the clefts that are to be made into there bats. I believe they choose around 500 clefts. Some of these that come out are rediculous in size. My captain 3 years ago went and got a bat from them at 2.6 and it had 43mm edges!!!!

I really like the old style of the stickers rather then the in your face ones of today, namely the new Powerbow Gen x,
Will gray nic's be selling this model in the uk or how much would i be looking at to get one sent to the uk.

these are meulemans own models and are exclusive to them in perth. It cost me $550 aust. for the 1000. Obviously the 750 and 500 are cheaper but mark my word are not any worse. I have had 500's that had 15 straight grains and a sliver of heartwood. I don't know how they grade them but  looking at this years stock it seems the only grade difference is the edge size not visual or performance quality.

Looks lovely mate, really big bats for the weight! I think perhaps they have also graded by density, as a lower density cleft means a bigger bat for the weight, and bigger means better according to the trend these days! The edges on the 3lb monster are ridiculous, that's pretty near 60mm, isn't it? That's pretty much a GN A61 spine on each edge haha!

yeah it is massive. They won't sell it until the season starts. There is a guy who comes in everyday and bugs them to buy it. They have tried ordering some more but logistically it's very hard to make.

Just a quick note, there is another one there the same size as mine but with 12 or 13 straight grains @2.84. I didn't buy this one because i reckon my one was about 1% better on the rebound. Basically like someone said on this forum 'it's got more ping than a chinese phonebook'
