Has anyone ever proved that a bat with less grains performs differently to a bat with more?

I haven't got the faintest idea! Just wondering whether our obsession with grains (mine included) actually makes any difference whatsoever to the performance of a bat......

the myth is that more grains = less time to play in and find ultimate performance
so less grains = more time needed to play in and find the ultimate performance

must still be a myth as not sure how it can be proved at all, let alone generalised for all willow.

And bearing in mind that 'ultimate performance' is subjective as well I guess it must be a myth!

I remember when I was talking to Julian he said depending on how much you use a bat but more grains one will last for a season or season and a half while fewer grains one can take you for three season.

Again depends how much you use, how you use etc

another good point :), not only is it a subjective thing but at which point could you subjectively tell your bat will get no better?

I think its safe to say its a myth and people will have their varying thoughts on the subject

We've proven that bats with varying numbers of grains perform pretty similarly (unscientifically of course). Look here:

http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=14247.msg227295#msg227295

All the ping scores of 10 are from bats with differing numbers of grains.

Apologies for bringing up an old topic, but I thought with people getting new bats for 2012 that it might have be interesting to see new entries; plus I was just going through my Photobucket account and found some pictures.
