I bought a new Albion Ultimate helmet back in February as my match helmet. It has barely been used this season, in fact the times I have worn a helmet I have three ducks and 1* not out, any time I don't wear one I score runs
Anyway, like I said the helmet has barely been used, and all four innings lasted no more than half a dozen balls. The helmet and grill has not been hit by a ball, it hasn't been dropped, misused or mishandled etc. But today I got my helmet out and noticed that the next to top bar looked 'loose'. Upon close inspection the welding has come away on the next to top bar, and it has also come away at the top of one of the vertical bars at the front of the grill. I've contacted the place I bought it from tonight and will wait and see what they say. But considering I've barely used the damn thing, and it has been stored safely, I just can't believe that the welding has gone. It is somewhat 'scary' to think what could have happened if I had been hit in the face mask with a cricket ball!
Has anyone had any experience with the welding on the grill coming away? Is it likely they will replace the grill due to what I believe to a manufacturing fault?
I'd really resent it if they come back to me and tell me there is nothing they can do about it. No way the welding on a grill should come away in such a short time with next to no use...
