Although the grains go through the toe, doesn't the willow fibres go in the opposite direction hence why bats feather through tapping and in extreme cases split like this.

GMs tend to have toe guards and faceguards, so linseed oil wouldn't be any use. The only thing linseed oil would stop is moisture uptake at the toe, if you repeatedly hit the toe of your bat, it will eventually crack.

Perhaps get some twine and wrap it round the toe and glue it? I see it done on bats, and apparently it helps hold the toe together.

few of my bats have done this, and its from trying to spank yorkers way too hard. basically glue and clamp, then I would stick twine around the toe, as chad said, I did this on a few bats and it helped loads

What do companies like yourself do with returned bats?It's something I've always wondered. Obviously there'll be plenty returned that aren't repairable, but there must also be plenty that are but get replaced anyway.

Hammer has a 30 day replace or fix warranty... If we can't fix then we replace... If it's between the 30 day replace and 6 month window then we fix..

Most cracks are fixable.

what sort of ball do your club use. could be a factor if they are rubbish. if the balls aren't the problem, cover your toe with fibreglass, it's what i do. my mates tell me it makes the bat look wierd, but in the end you save the trouble, the money, and you prolong its life and performance isn't affected.

The league balls aren't great, but that has already been factored in. He didn't use it much in that league.

Cant see how tape would help as it already had a toe guard fitted when this happened.

I think it is partially to do with the way the bat has been made and a fair bit to do with the user.

Not the best is it. What about postage times and if I bought it in the end of season months. Could be 6 months between purchase and first use.
