SS TON Limited Edition
« on: July 30, 2013, 04:20:19 PM »

I got this in the post today from Online Stockist.

I ordered the bat last Monday evening, so it's very fast.

No customers charges so the bat comes to a very good £152 posted!

The one issue I have is the guy from OS has put a hammer edge sheet on the bat that coves up most of the face and spoils the looks a bit.

I can make out 15 grains and no heartwood. A few very small imperfections on the lower outside edge.

Weight is 2.14, but I suspect touching 3lb with stickers, toe guard and scuff sheet.

If I take the scuff sheet off is it best to heat it with a hair dryer first? The wood is really soft so it will be hard not to peel bits off the face.

I would just keep the scuff sheet on! Saves you the hassle of having bits of wood peeling off, having to get the residue off etc etc. If you do want to take it off, there are threads about this:

coming from past experience keep it on very hard to get the glue off and peeling bits of wood is a nightmare which will make the bat look very tacky

Recently I removed anti scuff sheet from SS bat which looks identical to this,(also put on by online stock list,  so I would imagine must be the same kind), anti scuff sheet came off easily without leaving any residues.

If I was you I would knock edges and toe again, don't put too much faith on the free knocking offered...

I think it is actually knocked in because hitting the bat with the mallet does not leave a really noticeable indentation.

I can see why players hit the ball so far, these bats are huge now.

I thought my Newbery Uzi C6 was big but this SS dwarfs it.

Using this bat on small club grounds is going to be silly... Great!

just as a point, you could always just take the edge tape off? as it is stuck over the top of the scuff guard

From memory the fiber facing supplied by onlinestockist is quite low tack to begin with. So you might have a good chance of getting it off cleanly. If you do, just remember to peel off the sheet by going across the face to minimize the risk of taking any willow with it. Good luck with it mate.

That looks nice, did you see a picture before hand? I got in touch with him a couple of months ago to get one of these. When I asked to see a picture he said he'd get one in a day or two but never did. I know he nips down the road to go get them when they are ordered but I found it a bit strange to offer if he couldn't. It put me off a bit to be honest but at those prices it's probably worth the odd let down.

Yeah, well the bats are graded correctly and he says he hand picks the bats. I think that's believable because this bat is nicer than the same bats batmancricket gets.

I'd say this is 1+ to be honest.

I think I was also lucky in not getting any VAT put on the bat, maybe customs didn't want to open it because it wasn't in a cardboard box?

Just an update on this bat.

It's an absolute gun. The willow on this bat is amazing, 15 evenly spaced grains is quite special.

Were you tempted to buy any other models? Would you use him again?

I was tempted yes, but then again this bat sold/does sell for £100 more from UK retailers so they must be pretty decent.

I will use him again yes, especially since he gives you a '15% off' voucher if you leave a review.

I'm looking forward to taking off the scuff sheet and putting on a clear one.

Awesome blade mate.

I got a SS LE in 2.9 of Ajit in April - absolute gun of a bat.
