Vitas Cricket at the Ashes, and on tour in Leeds!
« on: July 31, 2013, 03:02:44 PM »

Hello all,

Tomorrow myself, Robin and a few of the boys from our Cricket club are going to Old Trafford to see day 1 of the test match. We will also be at the Durham test on Monday 12th August.

From Monday 5th August - Thursday 8th August, our cricket club (Castor & Ailsworth CC) is on tour in Leeds. We are playing Pudsey Congs, Wakefield Thornes, and East Leeds.

We are based in Leeds city centre and will be out for some heavy nights. If anyone is playing in the fixtures, or is in the area, feel free to pop along and say hello. More than welcome on our nights out too. Don't expect not to be handcuffed to a railing, pants down outside a kebab shop at 4am though... ;)

The shop will be open during the times we are away, manned by one of our reliable part time staff. He will not have access to the forum, but will be able to answer phone calls and email enquiries, as well as serve anyone wishing to visit the shop for purchases or net hire. If you need to contact me during this time, please email jake@vitascricket.co.uk and i will get back to you when my blood alcohol level drops enough to allow me to walk straight.

Jake

Hi Jake

I work in Leeds, what days and times are you playing the games?  I might see if my Sat-nav accidentally goes via one of those pitches when driving between offices.

Indeed, i have a friend who lives in Wakefield, so as well as seeing him i am looking to tie something up involving the grill pit

As well as a visit to RK. Bats and a big feed, i can't really ask for more. :)

Good to see you Simdog, the chilli was doing a bit! Good work with the gloves, very sharp! My vintage scoop is in a bad way though, i think i'll have to give her to Alex when i am at Robertsbridge for some TLC.

Great tour despite only ending up with the one game, the batting order for which saw names come out of a hat and resulted in me (a keeper batsman) posting the top score in our innings (42* i think) at 9 and then take the new ball for a terrible 1 over spell. Wakefield Thornes CC were very welcoming and up for a laugh. Hopefully the Llama has recovered from the pummelling he took from our ginger, gin, garlic & beer relay. :)

I'm am beaten after 3 nights out in a row in Leeds coming off the back of Old Trafford last week, we are up to Newcastle for a big one on Sunday, followed by more Ashes action at Durham on Monday.

TomTek, you can't go wrong in Leeds. Call Lane, TigerTiger, Halo, Oceana, plus a number of great bars dotted about. Oracle was very nice. If you have time, Leeds Royal Armouries Museum is worth a visit too.
