So you're basing Prior being overrated on 3 tests...

The same Prior who scored 73 and 110* to secure a pretty incredible draw in NZ recently. Overrated surely means someone that is hyped up and doesn't deliver?

Matt prior has delivered on countless occasions for England. I suppose Micheal Clarke was overrated before his recent ton if we are going on the 'Judge someone on the last 3 tests innings and ignore what has happened before' theory.

gerry sa,
your comment doesn't make sense. If he bats in a team with stronger players his average would be better.....???? if this is true than the opposite is also true. if he played in a weaker team i.e zimbabwe then his average would go down.

Taylor averages 42 with 8 hundreds.

The next best is McCullum with an average of 35 with 6 hundreds.

There's very little depth in the Kiwis batting.

Williamson is a great prospect and Ryder was a world class player but he's got issues.

Taylor often digs NZ out. Hence why he's averaging 40+

If he played for South Africa, he can share the burden of scoring the runs. Less pressure would mean he can play for freely.

Rahane is the most overrated IMO.

He was hailed as a batting genius, new Tendulkar, Gavaskar etc.

Averaged 67 in FC. Got found out on an A team tour of the Caribbean. Couldn't handle the pace or bounce of the young West Indians.

Modest ODI record. And looked very average on Test debut

Not really sure if anybody rates him but as it gives me an excuse to vent my dislike for him, George Bailey.

Not the worst shout. I remember when he first started playing for India people thought that he would be the next big thing. Both he and Rohit Sharma have failed to live up to their supposed potential.

Watson is struggling with the bat, but I think as an added seamer he does a good job. Having said that though you're not picking your opening bat/middle order guys on whether you can get a few overs out of them here and there during a Test. Watson's downfall will always be his conversion rate, he needs more centuries to prove his class.

Jp Duminy is not overrated ! And yeah I am serious about Prior, no real performances in the ashes so far !

I don't think that you can base a players career on three tests. If we're doing that does that mean Ravi Bopara's three test hundreds in a row vs WI mean he should be England's number 3 batsman? Prior is just not in form, every batsman goes through stages no matter how good you are. All MP needs is a quickfire score at the end of the innings which he is known for to kick start his form and I'm sure he'll be back to his usual self.

not judging him by 3 tests, I still think he's overrated !
B.Mccullum is a great batsmen but he's also overrated.

Just had a quick scan through this thread... Some guys just don't have a clue  :D

Prior - Over rated? I don't think so...
Tendulkar - Over rated? You have got to be kidding me.....
JP Duminy - Over rated? Really....
Gayle (force) Over rated - Might fail some times but you live by the sword you die by the sword....
Ian Bell - Come on guys.....
Ravi Bopara - Fantastic all rounder if his head is in the game.....

As for all the rest of the guys mentioned I would agree.....

M S Dhoni all the way......being an indian I can feel it....when the team wins Dhoni won us the game won us the world cups...and when the team looses...Rahul dravid didnt play well VVS, VIRU  didnt perform

And no one notices him....

Man he sucks..mif we think of him as a player..in my view an average talent with good average only bdcause of his batting position

And for those who say sachin tendulkar is overrated....I dont know what to say....
This consistency for 24 years....that guy is genius...holds 99% of batting records to his name....fulfilling indian expectations for so long...and I can tell indian expectations can get reallly harsh at times....
There was a time(1995-1999) when india used to win only when sachin performed...
