Dingbat Sports - Handcrafted in AUS
« on: August 15, 2013, 07:11:49 AM »

Hi All!

Have been a member on here for quite a while, but had very little to say. Thought its about time to show you some of my work, as the Aussie summer is fast approaching!!

I make my DBS bats from start to finish (not part made), so obviously I do the splicing, pressing etc.

I have posted some pictures below of a DBS Ultimate, which is my custom made offering. It was made for a customer copying his old faithful GN Spyda. Weights in at 2.10, picks up well, semi oval handle, g1 willow and most importantly a great sound to it when hit with a mallet!! Spine height is approx 62mm, and edges 27mm. Apologies for the poor quality iPad photos, and sorry I didnt get photos before the anti scuff was applied :(

Feel free to give me any feedback you may have!!! Positive or negative I dont mind, it will only help me improve! :)

PS: used all my black grip tape for re-handle jobs, and the customer was eager to get his hands on the bat so had to go with white as it is all i had hahaha (looks yucky!  :()

Other than it being white, a thinner grip tape looks classier, for my part anyway.

Looks like a really nice piece of willow, with plenty of meat
Not overly keen on the back stickers, but other than that looks a nice bat

How do your prices compare to retailers over in Aus, and like someone asked, where are you based?

He's based in Melbourne if I remember correctly. In fact if his exact location is where I think it is he's not too far from me. Tempted!

Based in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne fellas.

Thanks for the feedback! Obviously the back decals won't be everyone's favourite, but I just wanted to do something different that will hopefully stand out.

Bat itself looks good and big for the weight.
I have to join the ranks of dissenters on the back stickers though I'm afraid

I do like that profile! Not keen on the stickers, but it's the crafting of the wood that matters! ;)

By the sounds of it the back stickers arent loved..... But unfortunately I bought them in bulk :P

Hopefully the craftsmanship compensates slightly for the back stickers haha. Thanks for the feedback all

You could get rid of the big bat sticker on the back and put the "DBS" sticker in the middle of 2 green lines covering part of the spilce on the back.

BTW the bat looks lovely, what are your prices like?
