Why are people so dumb ?

Seriously why does the average Joe go out and spend upwards of $820 for a bat off the rack (that's the asking price for a Shane Watson G & M bat here in Australia, and his bats aren't even made by G & M i have heard ! ).
Just don't know why would you after finding out actually how much cheaper it is to get a custom made bat .
If everyone knew just  how cheap it actually was to get a custom made bat , i think a lot of these cricket specialist centers would go broke!
The mark up !!!!!!!!!!( and for an inferior bat )is unbelievable-even the Gray Nichols Legend looks steep for me !
And i am convinced the willow used by the custom made companies is far superior than what you get in store, and for a quarter of the price !

It is madness i 100% agree. paying that much for a bat that isnt exactly how you want it grains, weight and handle wise to me means you just like the name and stickers

I'm not sure it's far superior but you definitely get to choose what you want. I handpick my own clefts and I'm more than happy to add a few specific requests when I go if I know someone has paid the £250 in advance. In fact I prefer it that way as I know I'm not groing to be left with some bats that might sell

A few reasons mate....people fall for marketing...not everyone knows of the smaller name batmakers that are out there, even though there are more and more popping up.....people are scared of trying the unknown...

It's sites like this one though that is starting to make everyone aware of the great bats out there at cheaper prices!!

Its the same for any other item you buy. Trust comes when you know about the product, company etc or see players using it which is why these bats sell.

We don't have the smaller brands so we really go for the big brands, GCCC got a couple smaller brands but there not the quality of salix, newbery etc.

Lack of information too, some people also simply don't care enough to bother looking around, they just go to GCCC or whatever, pick up a few bats and buy 1 of them.

Though TBF those GM Shane Watson bats are amazing, really a beaut!

tbh there isn't anything in australia thats cheaper. I am surprised that more english bat companies don't target australia for sales. ASOS has got onto the bandwagon by giving free shipping and i believe they are making a killing.
