Anyway, to start the story off, I need to go back a few weeks
Was in my loft putting my now useless Adidas pads with all my old cricket gear, when I found my trust old gm(believe it was a hero but stickers went years ago)
Now this was a big bat back in the day, weighed 3lb with its two grips and scored meafewthousands runs over its years. Unfortunately it was retired when it became more poly filler than willow.
Anyway, I couldn't believe how small the edges were, and how tiny it looked compared to my b3s, gn oblivion and gm zona. Which got me thinking,
I don't want oversize edges Anymore! I want a decent edge, but then lots upon lots of meat where it matters.
So I began the search. Not much off the shelf tickled my fancy. So custom people.
Do I get a 3rd b3? Can't really afford a 3stripe. And don't want anything less.
So search the forum. Red ink prices look good.
His previously made bats look good.
So made contact,
Traditional edges
Lowish middle
No concaving
Spine high and to the toe
No excess weight in shoulders
2.12-13
Short handle
No blemishes
7-10 grains.
John got back in touch, said he could do that, we sorted a few details then he sent me a choice of willow.
I choice one that had 7nice grains. Unfortunately on the finished bat you can only see 5, as 2are under the edge tape and very close to it.(not that it bothers me)
But the. Edges run nice and straight though the toe!
It arrived today and I could not be happier. It's a beaut. Put a second grip on, and it pics up lovely, and the middle is. Right where I like it.

So a big thanks to john. Spot on. just need to organise with itsjustcricket to have it knocked in for next year.
