Select Cricket
« on: August 26, 2013, 12:58:16 AM »

Hi Guys

Does anyone know anything about Select Cricket?

They've just followed me on Twitter and sent private messages offering me a "substantial discount"
They know I play cricket, but will have no idea about the standard I play or if I even bat. It seemed a strange way to try a d get new business to me.

Anybody else had a similar message?? And what I really want to know, has anyone take a punt, is it worth it??

I've had similar mate, just asked what gear they had & then got a separate DM along the lines of 'Select X bat, £100' and that was it, no context, no information about quality etc. struggle to see how I'm going to respond to that in a positive manner!

Cheers mate, think I'll give it a miss then. (That slight temptation to get a 'grade 1 bat' for £95 was there lol)

TON Powerplay
Kookaburra Kahuna 400
Kookaburra Ricochet 250

All are bats around the same price, none come with a scuff sheet, i don't think it is as essential as Jason makes out. The thing about narrower blades sounds quite typical of Pakistani bats from my experience, although i can't find any CSO videos where Jason criticises Newbery for doing the same. I've also seen Pakistani bats with a longer handle in a harrow, which is easier to spot.

Hi everyone,

Tried to keep this all quiet as I do not intend to get free advertising on this forum.
My gear has changed quite a bit since Jason's review, hence the description in the video now.

Would just like to clarify, our bats are no longer too narrow (I made a mistake in what I sent Jason) and our gear is not made by Sids, I had some gear off them ages ago and felt like I was conned so it was returned, hence them trying to flog it.

I hope the comment about breaking during knocking in was not about my bats and was about Sids because I really haven't sold loads and loads, therefore I have chased up every order I have taken to make sure the customer is happy.
Hope this clears some stuff up.
Cheers

Sorry mate wasnt trying to insult your gear, just know that sids have been flogging some stuff of yours, also what was wrong with your sids experience, thanks.

It was the first time I'd ever thought of starting up a brand and didn't think to buy samples first.
Ordered 10 pairs of gloves and 10 pairs of pads, said what detailing I wanted etc.
Was told that they would be test protection, high quality stitching, high quality leather etc.
When they arrived, they were awful quality. Flimsy, low quality protection, velcro was awful.
After long talks, I sent them back to a guy in the UK.
Still no refund yet.
