I learnt my cricket at a time when coaching/ practise was far less structured than it is today. I'll be the first to admit that my ability/ performance so far has come more from practice rather than sheer talent. As such I find if I don't practice I don’t play well. Simple.
I've always gone into nets and done what I know/ been taught from days of old. But after a poor season (to my own standards)) I'm wondering if there are 'new age' techniques which can help me adjust/ correct the basics. I'm a firm believer that good batsmen get into position, play shots, etc, instinctively (that's not to say the modern game and premeditated shots don't have their own place in the game).
Anyway, I would be interested to know about batting drills which help with basics like balance, keeping your head still, getting in line, etc - things which ordinarily a good batmens doesn't have to think about?
