2013-14 season goal setting
« on: September 05, 2013, 10:18:29 AM »

After reading the season review thread thought a goal setting thread would be a good idea. Having it wrote down somewhere makes it real and accountable. Aimed more towards the Aussies going into a new season.

Remember to make the goals
(S)pecific
(M)easurable
(A)ccepted
(R)ealistic
(T)ime phased

By doing this we can come back to them at the end of the season and see how we did.

I'll have a think about mine and post later.

Had first official club training of the year tonight (after Tuesday was rained off). I had been looking at moving up the order and bowling less this coming season, but my net was terrible. It was only the third I've had since last season ended, but I still struggled and it shocked me. More than anything, I found I wasn't able to pick up the ball out of the hand and felt like my helmet was impeding my vision. I don't know if it was just rustiness or a case of needing to get used to my helmet again, but I am not pleased with how I batted and am having another think about my goals.

I am mainly a bowler, used to be able to bat decent enough back in the day, and over the years my batting has deteriorated. Last year I set a goal for myself that I must work hard in nets on my batting and get some good scores this year but unfortunately, due to my own faults, I have not lasted more than an over in any of the matches I have batted in, never have a problem seeing the ball or pace but its always the shot selection that gets me.

Goal for next year is simple

Work harder in nets
Score atleast 1 50 during the season
Finish with a low to mid 20 average by the end of the season

This would be a massive improvement from where I am currently, which is a walking wicket. Still have till mid-october to play but has been a very very disappointing year with a bat. Bowling seems to working as well as always.

Right, I think I have got a few goals in mind.

Have a training attendance of atleast 80% for the season.

Hit atleast 4 scores of 50+.

Average 25+ with the bat. With 300+ accumulated runs.

Force my way into the 2s based on merit and performance, by Christmas.

Bowl more in nets and establish myself as a regular bowler.
