Newbery Test vs Mongoose Premier batting pads

Guys, I want to buy batting pads which are as comfy, as light, as cheap as it can get in around $30 - $45 mark. I’ll need shipping to Canada hence I need to add that in cost as well. What would your recommendation be in that price range. My starting point would be –

I am planning to buy few other things like kit bag and padded shorts etc from sportsdirect which when added provides me a decent deal including shipping.
What would you recommend out of these two. Any other suggestions welcome.

I wear the Newbery Test pads, and absolutely love them.  Had them for about a year now.  They are probably a bit heavier than those Mongoose ones, but wrap around really well, feel great, and offer great protection for the price too.  Highly recommended!

Thanks a lot for the feedback Paul, so assuring, I had already seen your video on the pads but felt its a bit on the heavier side (when compared to lighter ones available, and offcourse they are more expensive).

I wear the newbery test pads too and can't fault them. Like Paul says, probably a little bit heavier than some but that's nitpicking.

Definitely recommended.

Mongoose will be lighter, but protection probably won't be as good. Steal at £21 though - they cost almost that much to manufacture.

Newbery all the way their softs are very nice not the lightest but the protection is superb

Really strange to see Newbery gear still in Sports Direct.  I can't see it staying there for much longer though, thankfully...

Personal suggestion not to buy the inner shorts where the pads slot in.

They pads move around a lot as well as not sitting where you quite want them to.

I'd recommend something like Aero strippers or similar. I know Slaz now have their own version which is quite cheap. You can use the straps to shape to your body rather than gambling your shape was what Slaz had in mind when they designed the shorts the pads slot into.

Thanks for the suggestion MD, was already thinking on those lines. I'll probably buy the cheaper strippers.
