Puma Pro 6000 - Come and see what you could've won...
« on: September 05, 2013, 06:58:00 PM »

Evening all,

A week or so ago I saw a post mentioning that Pro Direct Cricket were selling Puma Pro 6000s for £179.99.  Having never owned a Puma bat (or any Puma gear) before, hearing good things and knowing this bat was one of their elite ranges I figured I'd take a punt.  Have to say I was surprised.

Given the rep Puma bats have for extreme concaving, I didn't think I'd like this one.  Have a look at the pics below to see what I got...

First the good - no concaving, amazing pick up and balance, 11 straight grains, 2.8 and feels lighter, 36mm edges - a lot of wood for the weight and a finish you'd expect from a top end bat.

Now the not so good - surely a bat that RRPs at £400 should have a bat cover?!  And here's the clincher for me; I thought all Puma 5000s and above were made by Rob Pack?  This says its made in India.  Please enlighten me on the latest with that anyone in the know.

Anyway, as good as it is and as good as it pings with the mallet, its going back.  I bought it a couple of days before Jake released info on my adolescent dream bat, the Bubble.  Whereas many of you are able to justify multiple bats, my ability and the mortgage doesn't, so it'll be the B3 and the Bubble for me in 2014.  I figured that there is always a bit of talk about what Puma bats are like, I thought I'd share some info, just in case anyone else is looking at one in the future

I don't think Rob makes any bats for Puma anymore since they scaled back in the UK market.

Mate I think the Pro, Platinum, Karbon are made in India and Bionic, Calibre are made in UK...

That is a lovely bat by the way, very jealous as I was thinking of ordering one myself but probably too late now.

I know.  I'm thinking if I didn't have a stag weekend, holiday and Christmas coming up I would keep it, as well as the ordering a Bubble.

The bubble has been a dream for years.  A Puma never has been.  When I saw the pics Jake posted of the Bubble it's no contest.  But I was planning on this being my midweek bat when I bought it...

I was informed on another thread that Rob Pack no longer makes bats for Puma.
