I tried on the Masuri helmets and felt the visibility was very good as was the style and build quality.

really? :o
you liked the plastic bicycle clip thing at the back, the ludicrous weight of the thing and you could see out of the 5cm gap?

you couldn't pay me enough to use one.
and i am a big masuri fan. (am or was??)

Adidas told me they have spent a lot more time in the factory, in an attempt to improve the QC of their bats.  Whilst this is admirable (and in my opinion certainly necessary), it might be one of the reasons why the decals look like they do.  I think they were far more concerned about getting the performance right!

Could they not take the Libro stickers and make them green instead of blue?? Job done and doesn't look as village as those awful ones they've come out with...

Just SPS and Players, Vincent.  Interestingly, the Players is about half the price of the SPS!!  ???
Thanks Paul, great news. Kudos Players sounds good especially at half the price of an SPS! Are Newbery prices likely to go up for 2014? If so by roughly how much?

They've gone up, but only by a little bit.  Kudos Player is £275 SSP (RRP) incidentally...

As for the Masuri helmets, they actually look better in the flesh than they do in the photos.

Re. the visibility, or lack of it, with the new standards, they don't have much choice unfortunately.  I think the visibility on all helmets that want to pass those tests will decline slightly, but they are much safer for it...

I tried on the top model which felt good, but shall take into account what you say when they come in to see us in the next couple of weeks.

Did you perhaps feel any other helmets were a better option...always good for us to know.

Cool but of course you'll "sell it for a bit less than that"? ;)

Wow so £500+ RRP for an SPS then?

Was Lord's only for the Big Boys or were smaller brands like Chase, Woodstock etc there as well?

There were some smaller brands there, but it was mainly the big/medium boys.

The biggest disappointment for me was the absence of Salix and Willostix...

now the inside of the Adidas lid is simpler, they worked better for me, then the Albion lids looked good as did the forma/gn lids.

I get the gap between the peek and the visor needs to be a certain size, but the duel ridge is distracting.

typically I believe simple is best, my view is that Masuri have gone too far and not kept it simple. the club mark 2 is still a great cheap lid, good enough for 90% of cricketers.

M&H (if they can be considered small/medium).

I also really liked the Spartan gear, but they should be in the big boy category now I feel...
