Vintage bats
« on: September 26, 2013, 08:44:33 PM »

Just a general question for Paul as was wondering how many were actually made this year. I know you advertise that this model is very limited and there is a waiting list. I have been very tempted by your supreme models that you flaunt on here  :D but have not seen any vintage ones. In fact has anyone from the forum got one?

Kal
No nobody has had a vintage this year from the forum I have only sold three to people who have come to see me to have them made. I haven't pushed them to be honest this year as I am planning to slightly change what is happening with them. As you may have heard the amount of beautiful looking wood is getting less, this doesn't affect performance but there aren't as many true grade one bats around with fine perfect grained faces. This is becoming harder for small bat makers but this is part of the skill of the bat maker to know and find what he wants for his quality of product.
As I say keep an eye out for what is happening with them for the coming season. Fortunately we are becoming more and more popular and we have been busier than ever this year and we are constantly trying to re invest into our skills and products. Ideally we want to source everything involved in a bat from this country that's why we are currently investigating how we can evolve the making of our own handles. This may not happen for a couple of years until we get it right but that is the way I want it to go. If anyone wants to make quality pads and gloves at competitive rates in the uk let me know would love to be one of the first to support that.
If you have any questions please get in touch I like what we do to be as open and transparent as possible to help people see what we are doing and how we are trying to give you the best of products and an understanding of how it all works. It would be nice to try and force this tradition to be brought back to the uk more and more rather than relying on everything being exported then re-imported it doesn't make sense to me when we have all the skills and tradition here in the uk.
Enough of my little rant winter well and keep an eye out for what we are doing
