You've got us scratching our heads here Paul - very interesting re the weights of bat the top guys used though. Erm would it be mr 'Slats' Slater?

Not many used heavy bats. There were a few but not that many. I'd say 2-8 2-9 was the average. Re player even if you've gussied the name already I won't say who it is without his say so. You've come up with some great guesses though.

In that case, I look forward to seeing a picture of Karl Krikken. (Am I getting warm?)

I'm going with Dominic Cork - possibly Derbyshire's best ever product.

My mum and dad are from Chesterfield, so my dad has always followed Detbyshire (in fact my grandmother used to help with the catering when Derbyshire played games at Chesterfield) - one of the first live games I saw as a kid was Derbyshire v Kent in a one day trophy (can't remember which one, but it was still white clothing)

It was before Cork had been selected for England, but I remember him scoring 50 and taking some wickets too.

Also remembered Carl Hooper crashing it around for Kent and I think a young-ish Mark Ealham had a good game too.

Barnett and Krikken were in the Derbyshire line up - might you have been playing too Paul?

No my first year on the staff was 95 and that was the first year of coloured clothing. In fact there weren't many companies made the coloured pads then so the ground staff used to paint them up and if they used the wrong paint when the ball hit them their was an explosion of paint flakes at the crease. It used to be hilarious to see the quick bowlers hit the pads and an explosion of colour in a first class game. We alway seemed to play kent and chesterfield. It was one of the quickest tracks in the country in the mid 90s used to love playing there.

I still have some of that first coloured clothing ours was an awful light blue trouser with hideous yellow shirts and jumpers. In fact the jumpers were still proper Aaron knitted ones. They looked dreadful. I still love the proper kitted sweaters in cream far better than these fleece things and last a lifetime but the yellow ones were truly minging
