cricket ball for 40 over games
« on: October 03, 2013, 08:55:24 AM »

i am currently looking at buying a box of cricket balls for next season. it will be the first season that we have played alot of 40 over games. should be in the region of 16 were as we have only ever played 2/3 a season up until now.

i am basically after some recommendation for balls that arent to expensive but last well enough for 80 overs of cricket

Two that we have used in the past that have proved up to teh task:

http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/cricket-balls-c4/match-balls-c5/readers-county-supreme-cricket-ball-p263

http://www.vks.com/cricket-balls-specialists-stockists-london/vks_balls/match-special-grade-a-cricket-ball.htm

The VKS shines up better but starts to rag in the second innings whereas the Readers don't do a lot but last very well.

I believe we use Dukes Ambassador balls which we get at around £16 a pop. Expensive but they'll swing all day if they are looked after and practically nothing softens them up. We play timed cricket and usually get around 85 overs in a day.

Our 1st XI use Uzi balls - they tried so many balls over the last 5 years as we needed a decent quality ball that swings after 50 overs but still cost around £10 budget. Asad (Uzi) was kind enough to send a free ball to test and it went so well with the all the bowlers that I have purchased a couple of boxes!!
Our 2nd XI even use the next level ball down from Uzi which are still excellent and a little cheaper price too!

We stock a large range of cricket balls and have used the same factory for many many years. Prices range from below £6 to around £16 per ball. If you would like some further advise as to which would be best suited to you, pls email me on vinay@vks.com or PM me and we can go into further detail. Probably best suited to you would be the VKS County or League Special balls.

Hi - I believe the 2nd XI use the King. And the 2nd XI use the Supreme ball.
Our bowlers are impressed with both and they seem to swing all innings - and when it comes to our 2nd XI bowlers, its very much a shock that they get anything to swing!  ;)
But the balls hold their shape well and keep the shine well, which the 1st XI bowlers love!

We use the county crown in our league they are a good ball but about 14 pounds a ball I think but I would try the balls Pete suggested as he probably faced the balls when batting I open up and readers swing for around the 25 over mark so if a ball swings at a 50 over mark that's got to be happy days  :)

You won't be disappointed. All our balls are made under our supervision And not having stamp of a big manufacturer on them means you pay less but get top quality

We use the Tiflex Magna that we got from Vitas, they are worth considering as well.
