Recovery times
« on: October 04, 2013, 09:56:21 AM »

Hey guys it's a bit of an out there question but it's worth asking!

I have had a serious ankle problem for a few years and I've finally been given a scan and so on well I have the results I have a grade three torn ligament! They've pushed me through for surgery very soon they have said! I had a cortisone injection(ouch!) so my question is has anyone had similar surgery? And what's the complete recovery time?

Thanks Morgan!!

The simple answer is a very long time.

But it really depends on each individual and the rehabilitation exercises you do. I knew someone that was only able to start putting pressure on their foot after a month another took almost a year to fully recover. However these people hardly played much sports.

Grade three is kinda the worst thing you want. A rough guess for me and what I have read about it is 2 months should be able to get you to walk and gentle jogging again. However it is still very weak and another slight accident can set you back.

What I would suggest is try to get to see a physio as soon as you have decent mobility and start to strengthen the ankle again. Withing a year you will be perfect!!!

My teams luck just gets better and better! Found out one bowlers having surgery on an elbow and out keepers having knee surgery! So if anyone wants an easy win next season be sure to let us know :p haha!

Seriously though thanks for your response :)
