Integrity questioned? Well yes your right I have questioned others at times as I do feel that a lot of companies out there mis sell. Many state or suggest hand made when they are not they are made on machines. That is something I question without a doubt and have no qualms over that. Am I damaging my integrity as a brand and business. Well as a business, how many bats do you think I have to sell a year to make this a viable option to make a living? 40-50 a 100 maybe. Well that would make it a part time job. That is really what it has been as I have had to make bats in the day and coach evenings to make a living. Ideally the bats would be the soul trade. As a new brand it takes a hell of a lot of investment to get set up and to keep adding to it. Can I as a brand walk into the business arena and command sales matching that of gm Slazenger or newbery no where near. It has been and still is a gradual build up. I can't run before I can walk.
So making for others how is it done. Do I import bats made abroad  and claim they are made by myself? No. Do I claim they are all hand made and have them made on a machine? No. What a small company wants are bats made in the same manner as I make for my brand, by hand hand pressed and the same quality and performance as I make for myself. The same amount of affection care and love that I put into all of my bats put into theirs. If this is a way of helping me grow my business and still gather a great reputation as a skilled bat maker and make me a living out of, then great. I'm not looking to be a millionaire just to be happy making a living doing what I love doing. Is that compromising my integrity and honesty as a business and person? Well I will leave that for others to decide but as far as my future is concerned I think I am trying to go about things in the right way.

It's the same in my trade, I'm a goldsmith running my own company but do repairs and commissions for retailers.
Some pass of the work as their own some are more honest and say "my chap in London" did it. I don't really mind even when they request their own makers stamp on the hallmark.
Very few craftsmen of any sort will only make and sell solely through their own outlets.

Aldreds' post just beat mine.
No, your integrity is in what you make. Everything as close to perfection as possible and it doesn't matter who wants to sell on your wares.

Keep up the good work.

Paul - I think only one person questioned your integrity. But all the replies that followed proves that it was not in question for others!
Generally, the quality of bats you have provided on here (I have spoken to a few members to get their opinion on the bat you sold them) have been excellent and I have only had positive feedback!!
So keep up the quality work!!  :)

Thanks for your positive replies. I just wanted to make the point that as much as we want to keep to every ideal at some point you have to think in a business frame of mind and find a way that is going to pay the bills. That's just an every day fact of life I a afraid

I agree, the finish of the bat I purchased from Paul was outstanding.

I am of the general impression that Paul is a fine bat-maker and a good bloke. I was simply asking a question.
