Closest bat shape to the Talisman bats?
« on: October 09, 2013, 07:11:53 PM »

I have an old Talisman that is on its last hurrah.

The profile is ideal, any ideas what is the closest bat profile to it? Im guessing the Newbery GT or MnH amplus are the nearest. I have seen a number of GTs and they are not quite the same and the Millichamps are very expensive.

I have emailed Newbery and they said they can copy it which is probably the best option.

Here is a picture for reference, it weighs 2.9.

Hi mate

I'm sure that the fair majority of the forum sponsors could copy it with there twist. If it's a exact copy and therefore CNC you may want one of the bigger boys - having seen B3s work they can make a exact copy.

It's all based in budget of course!

That would be my guess too Mr Cat, depends on the spine running Down to the toe or not hence my original question.

Still have one of the profile in the office that colsey had his eye on

I had two of those very SS Tons - they had around 14-20 grains from memory.
Sold them both in the end but they were excellent bats  :D

Yeah the spine runs to the toe, here is a shot

I am not bothered about the amount of concaving though, would be happy with slightly less and smaller edges.

Newbery have quoted £280 for an SPS copy which seems fairly good value, I am apprehensive of not picking up a bat before buying it though.

B3 are a good option- may ask them for an opinion on it.

Doesn't every batmaker do a harlequin/GT shape?! The only way to make it a Talisman version is to triple the delivery time and when it requires the inevitable repair, simply send your bat back and don't bother with the return address details!

M&H Original High / Newbery GT / M&H Harlequin.

But on a budget I'd think most Forum batmakers would do you a good deal and more likely pick you out a better bit of willow!
