Gray nic's X181
« on: October 16, 2013, 04:29:54 PM »

Hi Guys

Was in owzat-cricket earlier and saw and had a quick grip of the x181 and have to say like a feels like a really good stick, better than the maverick and powerbow.

Just wondering if anyone owns one and how they are getting on with it as its different from the rest of the Gray Nic's range with a bit more concaving.

Yea I have one, got it from Jake at Vitas and its a real beauty one of my favourite bats, spent a while knocking it in and used it twice last season scoring 89no and 73no so will definatly get more use next season.

I do like the profile quite a bit, what made you choose this over the others in the range and sounds like your one happy bat owner with those scores from two innings

It wasn't that I choose it over the other profiles in the GN range as I have a maverick, Dynadrive, powerbow and A61 as well lol. Honestly I bought it as I really liked the look of it and Jake at Vitas always makes sure you get a great bat in terms of looks and performance.

I was extremely impressed with the pick-up of this bat based on the samples they had at the Lord's show.  One of the best pick-ups around for a low middled bat in my opinion...

Lovely spine down to the toe, but great pickup, I really like the shape and may opt for a bat shaped like it for myself when I visit GN.

Soulmans is a belter, really impressed by GN at that sort of price point.

We do not unfortunately. We ordered them in by request for people at the end of this summer. There are some coming in our stock order but this will be in November.

Soulman may be coming to the event, and might be kind enough to bring it with him.

That would be extremely thoughtful if he did so, as i'm definatley curious to see how it performs against the rest of the range.
Suppose its a pity we didn't see more of Cowan using one in the ashes.

One thing I should add: I have been told (by the Gray-Nicolls rep, so he was being extremely honest!) that they are the hardest pressed bat in the range, and take quite a while to open up.  I don't know why this is, but felt people should be made aware of nonetheless...

Soulman have to ask how long you knocked it in and netted with it first before using it, if it is indeed the hardest pressed bat of the gray nic's range

I am really tempted by one of these for next year, I think they look fantastic.
