Got a few bats in and intersted to see what people make of the looks of them in terms of willow?

Red stickered ones are grade 2 willow and grey/orange ones grade one. As im admittedly no expert in the bat area wondered if people thought they were upto the graded claims. 6 or 7 people at my club have the grade 2 version and they seem to go well. I had a g1 for the season which has a low middle due to Bristol pitches being slow and low which did a job (even with me at the end of it!!) on a sunday at least.

Pakistani in origin I guess, AS Sports? Willow is average, not great but ok.

Ian youve obviously not had the joy of playing at our ground in the middle of our so called "summer" lol

Grade one will be around �160 and grade 2 �135

Walshy...Glad you like them slight curvature to them to move away from the traditional straight bat.

Tom...Yes brought in for us as obviously our main focus is on the helmets but thought it best to have a bat range to compliment the softs etc. Could be looking for a UK supplier though if anyone knows any decent firms about?

you seem to have a range of good shapes, especially the different angles of the toe - i think the middle grade 2 bat looks (cosmetically) the best of the bunch. You have a good logo - my only criticism, i dont like the two coloured tape used between the grip and the blade (it cheapens it slightly)

AS make good bats definitely, handles aren't amazing but they most certainly go very well and were very popular. I had a small number of Itias bats done by them.

Get some new grips, some new tape and no-one knows where the hell your bats are from.

In the Uk there's a number who can do them for you, obviously the forum guys, Hunts, Newbery etc all would do it.

Ah blame the supplier for the coloured tape, most of the lads have swapped the grips for adidas ones anyway so didnt take them long to take it off!

Yeah wanted the g1 with a thicker toe section as most of them would be going to local players around here who i play with or against in the Bristol/Bath area.

34-35mm edges though on a 2.7 bat is always a bonus, i wont show you the amount of seam marks on mine!!!

If the wickets are that low and slow, perhaps you should be thinking of producing a few more bats with the m&h solution profile - quite an easy shape to reproduce. 34-35mm on a 2.7 bat would get me thinking - 'have i got a bat that has been dried out too much' or' have i got lucky and got an extremely light cleft' - i hope it is the latter!!! I've played a few games in the bristol bath area, the university pitches at both bath and bristol are extremely low and slow, good for spinners and not much else!

Will look into the M&H solution shape and see what the crack is with them. My bat is 2.9 as my previous newbery series one was 2.12 so thought i would give a lighter bat a go.

Tom..im guessing brand such as Hunts, Newbery etc arre based upon relatively high volume orders in order to make any money on them? any ideas how many?

I think AS dry the bats out more than usual, as for how that affects durability I don't know. I've sold upwards of 100 AS bats and only had 2 returned, one for a handle breakage the other for shoulder/handle damage. Both were repaired and went on to last.

I'm not sure on volume for Hunts or Newbery, if you're after nothing different though in terms of shape then it would just be a case of them not stickering it for you so quantities wouldn't be huge I imagine.

The bats look good. I like the one on the far right (with the grey and orange labels).

Sometimes the bat makers store the willow for a longer time and given the extreme hot climate in India and Pak, the willow looses more moisture thus enabling the bat makers to make really meaty bats.

The bats pick-up really well for the amount of wood and look monstrous for their weight, but will not last very long. Eg. LW Reserve is offered with a second round of drying but with a reduced warranty.

i would say IMO that the second on to the right on the red one's is a better grade than the first balck/orange one on the left of the two, surely that shud be grade 1 and the orange one shud be grade 2,

Tom thinks his bristol pitch is slow and low....he should see mine. Which is why i am after a bat with an M&H solution profile. So yeah Tom look into that
