Pro-Direct GM Icons
« on: October 21, 2013, 05:39:51 PM »

Evening all thought I would post a few pics of the 2 GM Icons I bought from PDC. Both ordered from light weight options as I personally use bats 2.8-2.9. Anyway both arrived within 2 days although only ordered standard post and I was sent tracking details all the way. I know a few on here have had bad experience with PDC but personally I have used them about 8-10 times and never had a problem and the bats I have bought have been of a good grade in terms of appearance and performance.

Anyway I took advantage of an Icon 606 DXM and a 909 F2 DXM so round and flat face options. Firstly the 606, not the best bat in terms of looks but I bought this as it was only £68 and I wanted a bat that I could use in winter nets as a lot of the bats I have are still quite new and the place I net can be a bit a low and people can rock up with rubbish balls at times. A few blemishes towards the toe and edge but a very nice response from the mallet and also old ball. Feels very soft which is great to see from GM as in the past I have found there bats pressed very very hard. Not the biggest bat with 29mm edges but very nice pick up.

The 909 is very similar to above in terms of weight I would say Both are 2.8 and would be pick up index 1. The 909 does have a few very minor marks on the blade but generally a nice clean blade. The 909 has bigger edges from the F2 profile and comes with a flat face. This also taps up very very well, not quite as nice as the 606 funnily enough at this stage but very good from out the box. The 909 however does pick up the best and feels non existent in the hands and back lift.

Anyway for just over £200 very impressed and for any thinking about taking advantage of PDC offer I would before they run out as there are many bargains available end of season, but G1 909's from GM for less than £135 is pretty awesome. Just a qu in pic at the end of all my GM bats.

Only leaving stickers on the higher grade ones eh??  ;)
And please remove the GM now stickers from the front.
Lovely looking bats there mate, but as you have far too many I think you need to sell a few  :D

I thought I was quite kind to the 606, not the best looking but a nice personality lol.

Glad you went for a 909 too Chris, mine had a sweeping session today, and seems a little more responsive than before, which is a good sign! (Responded well straight out of the package) I did top edge one though, and ended up cracking the edge slightly and the back edge sticker, but everything seems in good working order. :D It does make me want to buy an Original though... :( I suspect your F2 will be around the 2.9-2.10 mark, as that's apparently as light as they come in, but maybe your one is a slightly lighter one. :)

I can't believe I wasn't a fan of the Icon before, the profile is stunning! I'm starting to like the feel of the flatter face and slightly harder pressing too, I figured that since I am getting on well with my Laver that the latter trait wouldn't be an issue. Goes to show that you will only know if you will like something if you give it a good try. :)

I think im gonna go with a 909 and an original f2. Am I right in thinking the f2 have a heavier weight range.

I will have to get my F2 weighed as if it is 2.10 then the pick up may be the best of all my bats. Honestly mine feels like a 2.7 to 2.8.

As we said Chad at that price for a 909 it was a no brainer. I also don't really know why I overlooked GM and mainly the Icon as its basically what I look for in a bat with a mid to high middle, oval handle and great balance. Just need them to do the same with the Octane now and I can complete the set.

just ordered an Icon Original in Medium so lets hope I get the same kind of service you had! Like people said at these prices they are very hard to turn down and I'm sure they're being snapped up as some options are now sold out

Mine just arrived yesterday, ordered the light option and it comes in just over 2.10 so quite happy. Seems to pick up really well. Quite responsive with an old ball so cant wait to start using it now!
