SD Kookaburra bat dilemma
« on: October 27, 2013, 11:41:01 PM »

Hi folks,my first post on the forum so I'd like to say "Hello" to anyone reading this! I'm looking to buy one of the cheaper Kookaburra bats available at the moment on the Sports Direct website.I'm tempted by either the Blade 300 at £48 or the Menace Blitz at £29.99.I'm really just looking for something which would be good mainly as a nets/training bat,but I'd like it to be a nice enough playing bat as well.Just wondered if anyone had experience of either model and could let me know their thoughts on them? I should also probably say that I'm starting back playing again in Ireland after a gap of 25 years since I last played club cricket in Scotland,so I'm "rusty" to say the least!
Cheers
Dave

Welcome to CBF, sorry I can't help with the Kooks but you might find MSR have something to tickle your fancy within your budget.

Welcome aboard - I agree in that you may find a forum sponsor who has something that will be of a higher quality than the low-end SD bats.

One thing to bear in mind on this forum - a year in, you look at your cricket gear and wonder; a) how did I end up with that much kit and b) you need more. Always more!

Hello and welcome to the forum.
My son has used Kookaburra Blades in the past they tend to be lighter bats and pick up well as they have a higher middle.
The 300's we have are around 2lb 6 and 2lb 7 in weight. They come part knocked in but need another couple of hours to get them to open up.

Go with the blitz. Great bat for £30. I've now got 2, pretty impressed with ping and value.
There is a thread on here with pics

Thanks for the advice and the welcomes, lads :) I've PM'd Steve from MSR to enquire about some of his offerings,as they may be a better option. The shipping costs to Ireland can be a killer, though :(

I can assure you mate that as good as some bargains can be from Steve at MSR you will not beat the Kook Blitz at that price, I have one and there are pics floating about on here of about 5-6 and all look good and reports are they play well. Mine certainly does.

Well,I bit the bullet and decided to order the Kookaburra Menace Blitz.I think I got the last one in stock so maybe it was a sign that it was meant to be!!! I really can't go wrong considering it's cost me the princely sum of £34 including delivery to Ireland! Thanks for the advice and hopefully the bat will be a good 'un.I'll post up a few pics when it arrives.

Got two of the Blitz myself and quite honestly you could stand one of them against the 950 I also bought from SD and barely tell the difference in Grade.

May play like ploppy but both have a similar ping with the mallet.
