Can this be saved?
« on: October 31, 2013, 01:28:13 PM »

Well look what I found in the attic

It is my first ever bat I bought - 16 years ago.

It has major cracking on the toe and on the face

I bounced a cricket ball on it and surprisingly it seems to have some life in it.

Do you think it is worth taking it in for a refurb?

there is no reason that cant be refurbed. a good clean up, glue the toe and any other cracks and buff it up and a couple of coats of oil as its probably pretty dry. should look great after!

Refurbishers dream! I love bats like that!

Lots of fun to restore and usually the wood is quality on good names so is easy to repair.

Would any of you like to take the challenge up?

Poor thing :(
Some TLC desperately needed even if it's never used in anger again.

I do feel sorry for it.

I scored my first 50 and then 100 with it. A year later just gave up on cricket as I started to like girls and football.

It has such a nice shape to it, would be really cool if anyone knew anything about this bat.

PM's have been sent out.

Very interesting that this bat has 20mm edges, very little concaving. Cost me £120 in 1997, how much would that be in todays price?

That looks an absolute cracker, rather vintage looking

Might go for a rummage around in my loft now

Little work here and there will make it a decent bat, if someone works it can become a good net bat ( though looking at your other posts I know you don't need another net bat  ;) )
