I was thinking of leaving it, but to my surprise the bat seems to have some life in it. I think I should give it another chance in life. Will be funny when I walk up to the crease with a 20mm edge bats, lol how times have changed

I think I would be tempted to keep it as it is. But I'm sure it would come up nice if refurbished.

Might be worth sending back to Newbury to have it fully sanded and new stickers?

I do feel sorry for it.

I scored my first 50 and then 100 with it. A year later just gave up on cricket as I started to like girls and football.

It has such a nice shape to it, would be really cool if anyone knew anything about this bat.
This is a reason for you to keep it as such and display it in a case ,you can tell your grandchildren about your hundred and show them how bats looked many years from now.

That's exactly what I am doing, however not sure if they still have the same stickers.

I feel this bat has more to offer, unfinished business

Loads of grains on that too before grainy bats became the "in" thing!

Just got a call from Newbery and the bat is ready to be picked up.

I asked how it looked and there was a pause and then 'there are quite a few oil marks'

HMMMMMM not what I was expecting them to say. I guess I will go check it out, I hope it looks decent, I expect Newbery to do a decent job.

Maybe they are really old ones soaked in and they don't want to sand it back too much?

I think they should have stopped any more deterioration though. Lets have another pic mate.
