People's thoughts on this please
« on: November 01, 2013, 02:15:35 AM »

Came across this in the past couple of days. What are people's thoughts, intrigued or not interested?

Shouldn't the design be inverse of this if you are trying to teach people to hit the middle or middle?

I actually have to agree a little there I guess. Does it not sort of cancel out the fact of trying to hit the sweet spot that it is probably the same width as normal. The only thing it does it makes you miss it if you're hitting it where you shouldn't be!

You can make an argument for either design I think, but I still don't like the design.

My first thought on seeing this was that the bits that stick or around the middle are highly likely to break if you hit the ball away from the middle on them. That's a structurally weak design for something you are using as a bat.

Practising with a heavier bat increases bat speed?

May be but then wouldn't you be too early in your shots then?

If it is being used by county coaches then some endorsement may help the brand but otherwise just another gimmick.

Too short and vibration hurts a bit!

It would allow you to play cross bat shots which aren't always possible with the traditional middling bat

A couple of years ago I got an old heavy bag and hacksawed the edges off. Cheap way of creating a middling bat

I dunno, I used a middling bat for cuts and pulls this pre season. Certainly makes you focus knowing of you miss it'll hurt!

Probably not the most sensible thing I've done or useful in any way but it annoyed the quicks when you don't give them a sniff on a fast bouncy indoor track and use a smaller bat :)

Heavier bat will not improve bat . "More" bat speed will not effect timing, so you will not play too early.

Using a heavy bat might effect your timing.

Just for fun...

I may launch a slightly longer stumpt and argue that it will make your wrists stronger and help you find sweet spot better. I shall call it the "Batump" .
