If Carlsberg made cricket bats
« on: November 05, 2013, 02:27:27 PM »

Just thought I would see what people would choose if they could create there own perfect bat using there favourite components of different bats.

I would have the Handle from my B3, strong shoulders from GM, thick toe from my DS and quality of blade and finish from my Salix, and pressing of my HH or Newbery Kudos. Morph that together and that's my complete all in match bat.

I would have the thick toe of the new B&S LEs, Hunts County oval shaped handle with the Laver Willowcane handle, the pressing of either my Laver, Newbery Tour or Helios, the finish and profile of my Laver and a slight touch of concaving, just to keep the weight down to around 2.11. That being said, I do like the Laver skinny and pronounced oval handle too. If I could change one thing about my Laver, it would be to make it an ounce lighter. (around 2lb 12.4oz) That would probably be THE perfect bat for me. :)

Pretty much, if Carlsberg made bats, I reckon they would sub contract James Laver and make him work in the UK. ;)

Carlsberg would make a bat that ensured I was never out and that I was always there to ensure the side had enough runs to win the match (either setting or chasing)

If I had a bat like that I wouldn't care how many grains, what weight, what the handle was like. I would have an issue with the green stickers though...

If Carlsberg made bats it would look like a toothpick and weigh about the same, but it would ping like a cannon so it would look like the the ball scorching along the grass was entirely your doing. Even forward blocks would rebound of the deck with such force that they would clear the bowlers head and reach the boundary in just a couple more bounces whilst you hold your wall-like forward press in an outrageous display of dominance.
