I have just deleted my reply as I saw your reply and it says basically the same what I was going to say. In my view Andrew and Tim are the top bat makers in UK.

Great minds think alike mate :D

To follow that up I would say personally that AJK and TK are not just the best in the world but along with Julian Millichamp and possibly the head guy at SS the best quartet in the world at there given trade.

Again to point out that is just my opinion based on what I have used, seen and read.

Does anyone know whether the new Salix bat shapes are convex or concave?

I believe you're missing out a podshaver out in New Zealand! ;) You should try one, although ask for it about 1-2 ounces below your ideal weight! :-[

I was waiting for someone to pick me up on James Laver, personally I have used one although it was bought from here 2nd hand but I must say I was unimpressed with it. Pick up was poor, handle was tiny and performance not much. Also like you say why should I need to get one under my ideal weight? Surly if your one of the best in the business I should not have to. That's just my view and I'm sure in the future I will get another (the one on eBay is tempting me big time) but I feel personally not quite as good.

My Laver came in dead on the weight I asked for.
And it pings like stink. The handle is quite thin however.

I asked for 2'9 and got 2'9, it's a cannon now after a lot of time softening up in the net.

Agree the handles are skinny.

Have to take into consideration that it's slightly drier at times at the workshop! Mine have all put on weight, (probably because there's more moisture in the air in Scotland), but perform well, I think you may have been unlucky with your one!
