Garish stickers
« on: November 12, 2013, 01:36:59 PM »

Is anyone else like me in that they hate bold stickering? I was down at the Newbery shop a couple of weekends ago. Out of all their bats, my favourite shape was the Krakatoa. I loved everything about it, the pick up was great, the edges and the spines were perfect. I ended up walking out with a Mjolnir. Why? Flourescent orange stickers. If it was just the grip, I would have bought it and changed the grip as soon as I got home but the stickers are utterly hideous.

My friend bought a Kudos which again was lovely and the actual design of the stickers was lovely, but the colour wasn't exactly to my taste.

I saw a Kookaburra Menace the other day, picked it up and again it was lovely, great pick up, lovely grains and an agreeable shape. Was pretty cheap too, but having to look down and have red and yellow lights screaming back at me means I would never buy one.

Anyone else have this issue?

I couldn't care less what the stickers look like, if it's a decent bat just buy it.

Surely I'm not the only one who doesn't care about looks if they goes like the clappers?? (That also applies for bats)

The bat is more important than the stickers.

If you were at the Newbery shop why didn't you ask them just to put some plain Newbery stickers on there, no bat name?

I have to admit I didn't even think about this. Probably should have asked but I was pretty hungover at the time to be fair.

It doesn't bother me, but I guess it's important for some. Youngsters are particularly keen on looks as well as performance - and if they are too loud, there's always the chance you might get the bird from the wits in the field. Again, not something that bothers me, but some are susceptible.

I have to choose some Newbery stickers when I go collect my bat. They said I can any sticker I want, I actually like the Kudos stickers, nice and place.

To be honest, I would have been happy with just a normal Newbery sticker without the model name, even on the Mjolnir. I wouldn't say I'm a fan of completely blank bats but in my opinion, minimal is better.

If you like the bat but not the stickers, my suggestion is to carefully remove them.

Noted, but I am also not a fan of completely blank bats and the Newbery Krakatoa even had orange in the traditional Newbery face.

Then get some you like off a legit source.  Or if you have your own, slap those on

Most of the model stickers on the Newbery are a separate sticker. Therefore you can have the Newbery logo minus model name. That is what I will be doing with the Kudos stickers.

They're not that garish.  If they were bright orange like the Kook rogue from a couple of years ago then you'd have a point!

Well they are quite orange/pinky. Not my taste anyway.
