Good Quality Ankle Brace?
« on: November 13, 2013, 11:27:02 AM »

Guys, after another stunning 5 a side performance last night, I rolled my ankle in the last few minutes....again....on 3g surface....again....wearing copas....again.

Not sure if it's just going from spikes with plenty ankle support (Nikes) to low cut football boots or the surface or just having glass ankles.

In any case its hugely frustrating that it keeps coming back despite plenty rehab to build it back up.

Anyone who is, or knows of someone whos an expert/well versed in the subject of ankle supports and could give me some advice would be massively appreciated!

depends on what kind of injury you have had. I have both annkles with injuries (left one is more suseptible to rolling sideways and leaves in extreme pain for a short period of time, right one is more ankle/achilies related) but I find this type of brace is one of the best I have ever used, for the left ankle i use this brace with metal/plastic inserts and for the right one I use it without any solid inserts. I also find laces are a pain every time but they are a better hold than velcro. You should be able to find a cheapish one similar to this to give it a try, wear it everytime you play and good luck. Also might have to readjust the shoes are these are a bit thicker

I had the same problem when footballing. I found neoprene supports worked well, but you have to buy the smallest that you can get on (and they are an even bigger problem to get off...)

Tushar - does that brace have solid inserts?

I currently use a stretchy silicone type thing with figure of 8 type straps. Which although very supportive, is possibly a touch tight and hurts the rest of my foot more than it does protect my ankle!

One in the image I don't know about as its just an image off Google, but I have an Identical brace with inserts yes and another one without inserts but gel coushins instead. I think they cost about $30-40 (18-25GBP) CDN here not sure what they would cost in the UK and common brand name here in Tensor

I fractured my ankle last season by rolling on it. My physio said these are good
