New softs - GM 2014
« on: November 19, 2013, 08:27:41 PM »

Thanks to Jake for sorting me out with some soft goods for the next couple of years (ahem).
This purchase was influenced by having faith in a retailer after being messed around by the faceless SD behemoth. Although I ended up paying a little more, I am very happy with Vitas and Jake, who offered a good preorder deal on some GM softs and exemplary customer service – quick response to PMs, good communication and openness to flexible payment of deposits and so on. Really knows his stuff too, without laying it on a bit thick with the patter.

The kit itself is very nice. The pads are light and fit well, they will require wearing in, but seem very good quality. Hopefully the PU won't peel off in the breeze like my outgoing pair. I know Nick will want to know the weight, but I don't go on dead weight, rather feel ;)

The gloves, I must say, are proper. Light, flexible and with all reinforced fingers, they have calf palms that are supple. My only dislikes are the wristbands are a bit big for my skeletal wrists and the GM web address is printed on the palm, this I think is a bit tacky on an otherwise quality glove. All in all, almost as good fit wise as my R900s, but seriously more restrained in the colour scheme. They may be aqua, but I like...

Here are some iPad pics, interested to hear what you think. I'll do some close ups in daylight when I can if required.

Cheers for reading.

Lovely looking softs mate!

I have dealt with Jake twice and he is pretty awesome!  Little bit sad sounding on the phone, but super helpful! Free next day delivery which is a bonus!

Them gloves look awesome mate, pads aren't to my taste but will no doubt be quality. Without doubt the 'in' colour scheme at the moment(and one of my favourite)

Little sad sounding lol, never heard that about someone before.

Jake is a great person to deal with. Dealt with him a number of times and always received great service and great kit.

Haha probably!

I do call him as soon as the shop opens so he probably still tired! Or maybe I am just really hyper on the phone and he is like "not this tw@t again! Lol

Thing is, the pads fit lovely, not too fussy on how they look.

Glad you like the gear mate. I personally am not a fan of that style of pad image wise, but they do feel nice when worn in. And the gloves, well, they are luverrrrly.

Not sure about this sad thing lol. Could just be my voice? We have been really rather busy over the past 2-3 months though, so maybe I'm sounding a little drained.

Ha ha, thanks again Jake – your fingers must be worn down to the bone replying to the stack of PMs you must be getting!

Perhaps ed from gm could explain the website on the palm?

L
Lovely looking softs though. Always been a  fan of the original gloves and that knee roll design.

Is there much difference between the 606 and Original softs, they look the same in the website.
