Salix AJK Gloves and more
« on: November 22, 2013, 02:36:56 AM »

Are these worth the price
http://barringtonsports.com/products/11/style/salix_ajk_xxix_limited_edition_batting_gloves_2013/17680/view
if they are, anyone doing them any cheaper?

Basically I'm looking for new gloves, don't like sausages or garish colours, plain white for me (maybe with a little black).
Choices I've come up with are:

Salix, AJK, Pod Arma 2013, Pod Players2013, Pod pro 2012, Pod Black
BlankBats LE Ultra Lite
M&H T1
Willostix Anaconda
Redback Modern

Any feedback on any of these would be really helpful. I think I could go up to around £60, just tell the Mrs they were £25. ;)
Or if anyone knows where I could get some Ayrtek Elite (black, not the green, couldn't live with them).

I wouldn't say so really - I personally do not like the design, I think they look cheap and taccy with the plain diamonds within the finger padding. However that's my personal opinion - I like plain gloves as I have completely blank pads/gloves myself however as a plain design I like the Blank Bats limited edition gloves are much classier than the AJK gloves - nice and plain and at £20 less.

I just feel that AJK/Salix could've done such a nicer job on such a 'limited' classier range.

I do love the AJK design! Think they look gorgeous and knowing the quality that AJK insists upon with his products, there is going to be no doubting the protection and quality.
The only downer on them is the price really. But I guess every brand has increased prices! And AJK are the top of the tree in the Salix stables, so a decent option if you love the design.

I have a pair of Pod Pro gloves, they cost around £45 and i'm very happy with the comfort and level of protection. I've been hit on the hand by a bowling machine doing around 75-80mph and not been bothered by it

If you can wait for another month, we will be launching our new range which will include Pro range, Black Mamba Mamba Junior and Green Mamba range. we sold out our Black mamba range this year and have very few Green mamba pads/gloves left. Introducing Pro range gloves/pads, i am sure players will like it. All these will be at very competative prices and i may offer few pairs to forum members at special discounted prices

Reserve your judgement until you've tried on the gloves I would say. The Salix top of the range gloves that I tried on were amazingly comfy, the best gloves I've worn bar none.

I agree with that statement, the Salix softs are one of the best in the market, from both comfort and quality point of view.

I've got the Salix Pod Players gloves and they are absolutely fantastic. They are super comfortable and the protection seems great.

I have a pair of gloves and pads. Have used them this year. The gloves are the best in the market (IMO). In any case I feel only 2 companies gloves are the best - Salix and Puma.

The top of the line Salix are very good. AJK gloves go a few steps further - just amazing.

The design is more appealing in reality and te feel is superb. Feel "broken-in" from the beginning.

Well worth the money.

Thanks everyone.
From all I now read, it looks like Salix (AJK and all),M&H, Ayrtek and BB's are the most comfortable, Salix possibly with the best protection(especially the more expensive), Ayrtek and BB probably slightly lighter and more flexible but all of them damn good gloves.
Seen a pair of Pod Blacks on Ebay starting at £50, might have a deal on for a S/H set of AJK's and just wondering if Blank Bats do any forum discounts???

Decisions decisions :D
