Newbery online shop

Just seen Newbery have an online shop. Has anyone used them before? Prices seem reasonable... I presume ordering direct you can be more specific to what you want?

Saw on their facebook they were advertising tour gloves at £25, excitedly hurried on to see they were boys only! :(

Lol!

Honestly how did they think that selling stuff that cheap was a good idea. Unless the is a Xmas special, they cannot sell almost £50 cheaper than retailers.

Good luck Paul! I'd be p!ssed!

Most of their prices are actually still more expensive than us, but that's not really the point...

What would be the point, or can you not say.

If someone googles "Newbery Cricket Bat Buy", Newbery's site will always come up number one, and some companies spend good money on SEO for phrases like that.  These companies are customers of Newbery, not competitors.  That's all I will say...

I'm not sure that this is the case. I believe that if you go to a specialist independent retailer then you are more likely to get a good specification as their livelihood is dependent upon a reputation that is built upon prudent product selection. There are some independent retailers who are thunderous cheese hammers but word of mouth is quick to spread - especially on forums and social media. I would think you'd be better off asking one of the sponsors on here [or a trusted alternate] to get you a bat as time and time again you see quality of their products. Knowing you're going to get a good product is a lot better than hoping you are...

^ This. I am always impressed time and time again at how swiftly all of the forum sponsors respond to pms or are happy to discuss things even if it doesn't result directly in an order. The opportunity for all to meet up at their shops also looks awesome. I haven't managed to make one yet but i definitely will!

I agree with Paul and also not very pleased with Newbery opening an online shop. What would be interesting to see is how it affects Newbery stock order of retailers next year.

Sounds like someone new has come into the marketing office at NB and pushing for profits
Stab in the back for retailers, particularly going live after most shops have placed orders.

Seems perfectly understandable to me.

Most Newbery bats sold through retailers will be online through the big companies.

Therefore Newbery may aswell cut out the middle men and take a larger share of the profits.

They are unlikely to offer specialist treatment and hand picking for customers as IJC or Uzi Sports does.

This may see Newbery take over the majority of online orders, whilst hopefully still allowing smaller shops to get enough high quality stock and continue offering the same service.
