End of Season Blues
« on: November 23, 2013, 08:22:43 PM »

As I've had a few minutes this afternoon thought it time to post up a new'ish purchase.

My season ended early September due to a family holiday (bad planning I know!). Having seen so many forum offers popping up thought it was time to get rid of the end of season blues and invest in some new willow - having always used a more traditional profile I was keen to go for something more modern (flat face, big edges and imposing profile). I'd kind of settled on picking up a Tendulkar style profile and went about talking to a few forum sponsors on what was on offer.

Having bought from bb previously and very impressed with the quality and service thought it was prudent to drop Tai a line. After a message or 2 Tai was kind enough to give me a call and talk through exactly what I was after and suggested based on my game I go for a Amplus profile with a higher middle. Now I normally use a 2.10-11 bat (with 1 grip) & pop a 2nd one on. Based on the shape Tai suggested I go for something around 2.12 which he promised would pick up similar to my normal weight.

Anyway enough waffle time for some pictures (I've taken some snaps vs my other bb scat series 1 shape used for half of last season) it may have a blemish on the face but it's a big old bat and taps up lovely (I count around 14/15 grains) - really looking forward to unleashing it next season! Great value, finish, balance and expert service!

Liking a thick handle I have added a 2nd bind on the bottom hand (big thanks to Ryan for this!). Weight wise with a 2nd hybrid grip on both bats the Amplus is now 2.15 vs the Scat series 2.13 but you'd never know picking them up!

Still fancy a go with a Tendulkar profile but definitely sold on the Amplus!

Very nice bat mate, very sure this will play very well.

One thing though I hope you play on bouncy decks.

No problems on that front at my home ground but for soggy April tracks it'll probably stay in the bag! :D

Glad ur pleased Andy
Best of luck with it.

These type bats have a superb pick up and feel.

I have  converted to them, rather than the more traditionally middled bats, I find they are still good on the drive and front foot play. For pick up and feel you can't beat them.
