Small Men's Spartan MC1000
« on: November 25, 2013, 11:46:38 PM »

Hi guys,
Been hunting for the very item the title suggests - hope the forum sponsors can help me out here  :D Unfortunately I've only found one website - lords that I've heard somewhat mixed reviews of - and that's it!
Just after it in SM because it's half way between harrow and short handle ;)
Hopefully some of you will be able to help out!
Cheers in advance

Can you post the photos here ? I want to see if the profile of their junior bat is similar to the Men SH one

I was I at GC's ://www.cricketcentre.com.au/spartan-limited-edition-p-9949.html with a mate buying a new bat they are on sale £110 Post £30 not sure how that compares to UK prices.  The pick up is really light for 2:8, square toe, pings nicely.

Cheers

Hi faulds, took delivery of it yesterday and will post pics over weekend hopefully.  Bat is about 2lb 5oz and came with clear anti scuff sheet on front which I immediately removed.  The sheet was not that well applied and finishing was sloppy.

The bat itself seems ok.  About 7 grains , not straight and uneven in width.  Pick up is light.  My biggest gripe with it is the thin, round handle.  Long and quite thin.  Bottom hand may twist on straight bat shots although it will be good for cross bat shots.

Ping with the mallet is ok and I can only assume they would make a better effort with the SH model.  I just don;t think bat makers pay that much attention to making harrow bats.

I think Paul, John and Ryan, as bat makers, might have a contrary opinion mate.

I'd say B&S make a decent harrow too.  ;)

Jake...
Every time you say B+S, I turn away in disgust at myself.
Had the opportunity to get the LE for £100 from our pro and turned it down only to discover it's true quality on here!!
I may have to get one soon..

My opinions on them have somewhat changed after seeing some threads here!
They look gorgeous!!  :o :)
You may tempt me into one in March. After the pre season nets begin and I can find faults in other kit!

Of course not all bat makers are the same.  I guess the larger companies and those that provide expensive sponsorships to players tend to , in my opinion, concentrate on making good bats just for their top of range adult models.

I am just over 5'5" and so cannot really justify using a SH.  Hence I am relegated to using a Harrow.  And having a custom SSH bat made is upwards of £350 from the like of GN.  As well as the Spartan I bought a GM Six6 Original in a Harrow and it is superb so I guess that blows my theory somewhat.

But yes the B&S harrow bat looks great.  I assume it has sold now?

Still available mate, our local buyer assumed his daughter would be a harrow but it turns out she is still a 6.

Gms harrows will be made to the same standards as there adult bats, as there just a cleft put int he dms machine and it then shaped. There's not really much less car you can take.

And IPAs with gms adult bats. The harrows are available in original le, 808 606 etc. so you get similar grading to know what your buying.

GN do Small Men size and we have few in stock(on our web site). The BAS Harrow bat can be classified as Academy as that is the same size as GN Small Men. The blade is fairly wide on these
