oh no, what do I do
« on: November 28, 2013, 11:33:01 AM »

I noticed some flex in my Laver, and have found a crack in the bottom of the handle, both front and back :(

Even more worrying is a crack running down almost parallel to the splice, it's only small but obviously could develop.

Is my beloved bat a lost cause (which is ace as it enables me to buy a new one) or is it repairable (which is ace because it pings like a pingy thing from pingsville).

The first pic is the one with the vertical crack, which is my concern

help !

You do need a new handle
How old is the bat? Contact James Laver if its less than 1 year old. Otherwise any batmakers here can put a new handle for low price and you will save on NZ shipping cost.

I had problems with my Lavers, ended up with both breaking pretty swiftly, I contacted Laver who were very helpful. They have a deal with M&H I think it was t save on postage etc!

Hi all, the bat is a little over 2 years old.
I have no issues with it's condition, it has been used almost every week during the winter and probably two or three times a week through the summer.
It is just a question of is it repairable/worth it??

Always difficult to tell on pictures alone.

Looks like a new handle and glue will fix it.  Depends if you would rather spend some money on fixing this bat or a fair chunk more on a new bat.

If you are local to a bat-maker, perhaps you could pop it in for a professional opinion.

In my opinion it's definatly fixable. Send it to a bat maker like Salix, Newbery or on here dean from Vulcan, Matt h4L to name a few and con £35 odd quid plus a bit of postage will be good as new mate.

Same happened to one of my lavers the handle is not a problem the crack in the shoulder is and in time will only get worst.

I kept having mine fixed but it is the beginning of the end.
