Thnk the league stuff starts first weekend in May. Got sat and sun friendlies lined up every weekend in April though! Defo not coming quick enough though..

What are peoples aims for this year? More runs? Not giving your wicket away? Maybe to double the number of 100's ? Etc etc

I can confidently predict that I will double my number of 100s this year.

Double zero is still zero  ;)

First net last night, returned to my old club as captain this year, brought in what looks to be 4 very good new players (fingers crossed) and the session went well with plenty of banter and fun around.

More players returning after a year or two out to play in the 2nd team, club is on the way back up after a tough couple of years. Should have 2 very strong sides who will definitely compete for league titles.

My last season at this club saw me in the 1st team as we won the league and I won under 21 player of the year for the league. The 2nd team won both the cup and the league, and we were as strong as ever. But I left for pastures new and a new challenge and better standard, other players packed in playing for no real reasons and the club struggled to field a strong 1st team, and even get 11 players for the 2nds since then. But now I have come back it seems to have sparked a revival in other players and the club is looking strong again. The club now has good plans and structures in place and looking to redevelop aspects of the ground. Not taking credit for the players returning, just a pleasant coincidence. Cant wait for the season to start with the batting line up we are assembling

I'm after one thing only, to enjoy my cricket. I think it gets overlooked way too much.

P.s - this doesn't mean I don't care, I can't stand losing and probably take Saturday cricket too seriously.

Two things for me;

1. Do not break anymore ribs trying to take 'worldy' catches
2. Take another 50+ league wickets

First week in May. Get in.

Not saying I haven't enjoyed mine but that is one of my top aims too. Did think about going for a WEPL prem club but decided there want any point so I'm just going out to have fun and get a decent game week in week out

This really highlights how great sport at university is, I've been netting twice a week since October! and have a warm up game lined up against Northampton u17's featuring Ollie Stone to look forward too!

Some on here will have been netting 6-12 hours a week :) but yes, when you have the time like students have it's easier to net

Still six weeks to our nets, can't wait.  Since I have quit the captaincy this year I can get on with practicing without having to clock watch all the time to ensure the right pair are padding up and that the bowlers are evenly spread over the nets etc etc... Can't wait to get started!

2 indoor nets in and things are looking good. A lot more intensity at nets and some good hard sessions. We've been relegated and promoted over the winter and are back where we started 2013. Lost 1 player but potentially gained another 2 or 4 (if you include better availability) and the whole squad is more settled. Full run in with indoor nets to late March, outdoor nets arranged and planned plus a couple of decent friendlies. Things at the moment looking good.

Our season in the Nidderdale League, North Yorkshire starts on 19 April. This season we are looking at 22 games with a week off in the middle due to the Tour de France.

As the race route cuts straight through the middle of our league area, there would be no way to get to the various grounds for the matches due to the road closures.

Preparing lots of jumpers for the start of the season. Last year our first outdoor net was due at the beginning of April but it was expected to be barely above freezing so it was postponed.

Not sure whats happening this year, It's been hard enough getting Saturday's to play with one toddler but we have our second one the way very soon, I think I may have to rethink what I do this year. Also, with the way the league structure has changed, travelling might be an issue in terms of time out of the house.  To try to keep the mrs sweet, I may drop into 2XI (don't have to be at game an hour beforehand) or even 3XI (2pm starts I think).  Nets start mid Feb, but it's looking doubtful that I'll be able to go.  Indoor cricket starts this week, I am not able to make these either.

Got a new bat that I haven't been able to use, so I am itching already, but I am thinking that it won't get much use this year !

The joys of a young family (or a non cricket loving Mrs !)  :(

Still got away with it for 20 years, so maybe I shouldn't complain too much.

3rd net session tonight already!

Excellent school facilities - 4 lanes, good run ups, decent lighting etc. and in true pre-season net fashion 20 odd 16 - 60 year olds smashing the bowling to kingdom come.

Fan-bloody-tastic.
