Joe Roots pads
« on: December 08, 2013, 01:59:16 AM »

Evening/morning/g'day (whatever it is) all

As I'm sat up looking after an ill dog on a Saturday night I have noticed Joe Roots pads. Are they actually GM pads or are they just branded as GM on the strap? There's something different about them compared to the stock picture (aside from the lack of branding) that I can't put my finger on. To my eyes there's something missin though.

Anyone able to put me out my misery??

Thanks mate, she seems a bit brighter in herself now and has eaten, hopefully she's on the mend now.

I know they've got less logos but something else seemed to be missing.
Now I'm slightly more awake than I was at the time of posting I think I've figured out what I thought was missing!

They didn't have the stripes halfway down (which I assume say "Original L.E" ect.)

Bad news is I now really fancy a pair of GM pads haha

So why can't we buy said stuff? Why do we get given the crap stuff ? Cost isn't an issue as some people will spend 100 quid on pads. Can't see the pro ones actually being that expensive tbh

There probably is minimal difference in the design, quality and build of pro issue pads and top off the shelf. The only difference is the less logos - and the brands arnt going to remove their brand name logo from the off the shelf pads by choice as they are mini advertising boards

Of the 2 pro pads I have, I've found them both to be made from better materials than the equivalent of the shelf models.

So, can retailers buy these products (I'm small or large quantities) at all? Do they choose not to or  purely and simply can't?

They can buy them, but they aren't readily available, as they have a certain amount made up for their sponsored players.

If you look at the likes of lorimers they never have more than 2 pairs in stock, so they are few and far betweene to come by.

The ability to get them is the main bit. Excellent. I remember the pro room at kook having shed loads of softs in boxes with the pros name on. Not sure if they them sell unused stock or just keep filling it up as it wasn't something I was interested in at that point

Could have something to do with when he got hit and the GM one broke?

I think he was using a different grille since that incident anyway so makes sense to ditch the lid

Ah right hadn't noticed, I know Swann uses a GM lid with masuri grill and that looks quite smart
