Dont mean to hijack your thread, but here are a few pics of my hawk.
Weighs just around 2.10.5 ..almost 2.11, and is the players edition.

I'm also in the 'less is more' camp in respect of grains and bow so I think your dad has a great eye Chris. Enjoy!

I'm going to try and get him to join the forum and the user papa wide grain lol. He was a pretty good player when he was younger playing for the mcc universities side or the old day version, believe it was a slightly different name then and also a few county 2nd team games in the 1970's.

Well she pings really really well of the mallet and old ball and have not given it a go in the nets.
Since i prefer the weight of the 700 i will be using that and this stick will be looking for a new home :(

So my dad has arrived for Christmas and bought the bat with him.  First impressions are its very nice, looks better in the flesh than in the pics I recieved and posted although not going to win best looking bat competition. Pick up is very good. 2.9 and quite a big bat for the weight, little concaving but not to much. One thing I love is the profile really really nice.

Will get some more pics up tomorrow as catch up time now.

Pictures of the actual bat now I have recieved it. Tap up with an old ball is very nice and I don't think will take to long prep time.

So after becoming a bit connected to my Hawk bat I decided to get some matching softs, the pads are the pro series in small men's and are an amazing fit, also very comfy on and best thing was they cost £10 from eBay, the gloves are brand new and are the x-bow 500 which are the intro range. Only recieved them yesterday but very soft leather palms' reinforced finger protection and good side protection with a thick wrist band.

All in all very impressed with the Hwk brand and hope this bat opens up into a beauty for a bit of Sunday fun as and when she gets an appearance.

A few have a bit of envy, a few think im a mupet, but most are happy to help knock in a few bats through nets, matches etc. a few test out mine then buy based on how they like a particular bat. I only take 2 bats to each game and Saturday cricket is reserved for the HH stuff so some of the gear will only get used in nets. I have about 4 bats that I would not net with.

Ah right just if I go to nets or whatever with a new bat or piece of kit, I get the usual stick of only using 1 bat at once and how they're all the same...even got stick for wearing a inner and outer thigh pad which I thought was strange considering it's premier league level and the fact all the other lads use aero strippers. I think they're just jealous of the thigh pads from mr foxy ;)

There are a couple of other kit badgers at my club as well, one player is a Newbery fanatic and has 12 newbery s including 3 kudos ( he was so gutted I got the first sold to member of public, he has offered me silly money for it). We have a few players who have managed to get 5-6 seasons out of a bat but then again there not members on here. I who plan on trying to show a bit of restraint this year with new kit though lol.
