Which to pick?
« on: December 14, 2013, 11:08:37 AM »

Hello, I am just looking for your opinions on whether to get a pair of asics spikes or to buy a pair of runners and spike them up?
Thanks

It depends on if you have the money imo, personally I'd go with spikes as i imagine it works out cheaper then buying a good pair of running shoes and spiking them up. Also spikes will last longer as they have protection against toe drag, however you can replicate this on trainers with shoe goo, also spikes would last longer as the sole plate on spiked trainers tends to lift with use but then again buzz loves his and from what I know they've lasted well for him!

I've always founds Asics cricket shoes to be great quality, I've had my Gel Advance for 4 years and they are still superb. Mind you, new Balance look to have come into the market with some nice offerings...

By the time you have bought some runners and paid to spiked them up, it's the usually just as expensive as some top of the range Asics. I would just grab some cricket spikes, Asics are normally top quality.

Can't go wrong with Asics spikes. Can't understand why people would want to shell out for a pair of runners and then shell out again to have them made in to spikes!

Look at the forum sponsors sites and if you can't find what your looking for then there's no real spikes that would suit you as they have so much choice!

Never buy shoes online! I learnt that the painful way...it may be the most expensive of the range and the description may list hundreds of special features...but one can only select a good shoe by wearing it and seeing how it feels in real life...so my advice would be to go to the nearest cricket store and try a few on...

If you can, get to an Asics outlet store, as I managed to get a pair of Strike Rate's for £40
