My new woodstock
« on: December 18, 2013, 01:55:09 PM »

Well after what seemed to take an age to get here but I suppose when you live in he Shetlands things do take that bit longer :(, my new bat came this morning. After convincing the mrs that I needed to see it make sure everything was all good as they are a bit rough with deliveries up this neck of the woods, and I couldn't wait till next Wednesday to open it really :)

Originally I wasn't even after this bat I was going to get the new kookaburra impulse so after phoning a few retailers and asking for some pictures I wasn't too impressed, after seeing loads of bat reviews on here of a different mix of bats I was stuck! But then I was just looking on YouTubes Paul's it's just cricket channel and the mountains of reviews that he's done, I stumbled across the Woodstock. So after dropping hints with the mrs again she have me the go ahead to email Paul. I wouldn't of been able to get this if Paul wasn't so helpful which I am 100% thankful for :). Going out of his way to find a different courier to what he usually uses just to get the bat up here :) really good service can't recommend him enough.

Right so the bat! It's huge the pictures don't do it justice it weighs 3lb 4oz and the pick up it doesn't even feel that at all, i would say more like 2lb 13-14 just feels so well balanced for the size of it. Enough of me blabbering I apologize for the poor quality of pictures and the horrible red skirting boards as they was done like that before we moved in. I also apologize for the mess as new born baby stuff everywhere haha.

Thanks Khan

Sweet bat. Nice to see someone else on here use bats of proper weights.

Unsure why people think you need to be big to use them though?

i have a 3lb 6 bat, i can wield it and smash it if the ball is pitched up but a short one at 75mph + and there is no chance of hitting it with any control or even hitting it at all

No they don't have a jar what cricket is in Shetlands to be honest, I'm moving back to Lancaster in March just in time for nets! I know I've always used heavy bats and I'm not the biggest guy by any means :), the wickets I play on won't get up to pull height anyways and if so would be tennis ball bounce

My main bats 3.3. I'm not big, and I can hook and pull with it. I have no idea what speed they bowl at, but I play league rep cricket. So doubt it's slow.

That's a big bat! And nice if you can use a bat like that...as 95% of bats that weight will go superbly well!
I used to use a 3lb+ bat but I now find that my timing is not great with heavier bats. So I now use 2'10 ish!
Hope it goes well for you fella.  :D

Thanks :) I've used 3lb + before too, but last year used a bat that was far too light 2lb 8 and couldn't time anything. Hopefully things will be back to the norm using this monster  :D
