« on: December 22, 2013, 11:49:58 PM »

Refurbing a bat at the moment first bat ive really had to glue (a split in the toe) i glued it and clamped it overnight but it doesnt seemed to have worked very well, what is the best type of glue to be using for cricket bats? I wasnt sure so i picked up some multi purpose glue for bnq.

There's a number of threads on this topic

PVA glue from BnQ is ok, as all similar ones.

Gorilla glue is mentioned a fair bit.

What's you exact issue? Sometimes you need to water down the glue to get right in the narrowest bit of the cracks.

Looked through a few threads could just seem what was mentioned about watering down the glue maybe, the problem is a inch or so crack about 5mm deep through the corner of toe so i dont think the problem is getting the glue in as it just lifts up will just try another type of glue and ive already purchased a better clamp

I would wrap fibreglass tape around the crack after the glue has dried. Make sure you leave it clamped for 24-48 hrs.

Is the wood a bit damp and that why the glue is not setting properly?
