First of all Merry Christmas lads! I've used the search function and couldn't find a topic on this so sorry if there is one and I haven't seen it. Anyways for part of my Christmas I got a pair of the new purple Asics Gel Gully 3's and it's lead me to wonder what do I want....full spike or half spike. What do you's all prefer? Obviously a batting spike is labeled as a half spike but when breaking off your heal is that a bad idea?

This is a very good question, a question I would like the answer to aswell. Out of Habit I have always used full spike for both batting and bowling but I would like to see what other people have to say.

Full spike for batting, better grip.
As a spin bowler half spike so I can pivot more easily.

See I bowl off spin but I'm hoping to bat a lot this year so what do you reckon I should do as I can't afford two pairs of spikes

Get a pair of full spikes, but put rubbers in the back. Trial and error to see if you get on with them.

No point buy half spikes if you don't get on with them.

Go for full spike then buddy.
The only reason I have two pairs of spikes is because I got both for a silly price haha

Or if your really arsed just use one pair to bat in with full spikes and your old spikes to bowl in with half spike. Simples

We have mostly artificial wickets round here so I can't use spikes. I've been trying different rubber studs and these seem to last the longest (leg-spin, batting 7-8 and active in the field) on Adidas 22yds mids.

If I was to go half spike mate I would just be using the standard rubber spikes that come with asics as we play on just grass wickets around here

Most of the wear is from the third innings tbh. We have a fair few hockey players in our team, they never shower.

I use half spike mainly because I can't be stuffed changing to full spike when I'm batting.  If I bowl I'm a spinner but most of the time I'm fielding in close either at slips, under the lid or keeping so like only having half spike to stop the heel getting caught and be able to move/pivot quicker.
