It was made for a massive Irish opening bowler who retired mate so i cut it down to short handle length mate.  It tapped up so well i have done it before so no issue mate adds to the balance i think with my special tape
Ah faire enough bud, I didn't realise it was that big so I thought you'd cut it down to SSH

That's good to hear Dave, was a good net the other day! Despite batting like an idiot haha
I've seen the Aldred before and it is a beautiful bat, a little heavy for me but still it's a great bat!

Because i do not have much cricket budget i love great equipment but i shop on budgets and i want my best for my bats and feel it a system that helps and i will keep playing it in mate.

I do not buy as much as people think and i want to maximize my kit.

I feel a great satisfaction as well preparing my bats mate i knock all my bats in...

I use one till it can play no more then have another ready and ready the other two then just keep doing this...

I have never been a hoarder of bats Pads yes Bats are too expensive not to get the best out of

I might be being thick but is it possible I over knock a bat??
Could the extra knocking in spee up delanination as it's replicating the ball being hit??

As I said I might be being thick but is there any truth at all in my theory??  ???

I have a way of knocking in by gradual i just do not thump it.

It goes back to when i was a young lad i new a player who had 3 bats one he used and two he knocked in for a season then used the season after.
My very first b3 the custom one was only used in 4 games at the end of the season after the trott sustained damage so it came straight in and was ripe and still is.

I play 60 games possibly more this season so i always like 3 bats good to go in theory but was offered 2 so got them both.

The other b3 has had possibly 20 hours knocking in and over 1000 overs on a machine and has had no ill effect mate.

Good question I would say 5-10 hours before the go on the machine and depend on what I'm working on the machine.

I would say possibly 2 hours on a machine before I go to use proper balls.

However one of these bats I have not used yet other have tried it out like JB but I intend through the season to play it in.  With my other 2 returning the first ever production bat might be my match bat and I will use that in games till it breaks and just net with the others till a natural order is formed.

The first production bat has had to wait since Sept 12 and has only been used in 4 games but has had a full season in the nets and machine play so is more than ready.

5-10 hours, despite B3's knocking in service? that is some dedication! how hard do you end up bashing the bat towards the end of these 5-10 hours? for some of my bats, i've laid them down on a bed, and really given them a pounding with full force. not sure if it did more harm than good.

i hear ya.. so how hard with the mallet towards the end? lay it down on a soft surface, and give it a thwack like you're hitting something on an anvil? or is that too extreme?

It all personal preference i tend to go easy towards the toe not too hard i do not want it to split.

I have a technique involving a hard floor and a ball but that's not for a forum mate as bats can get damaged by it and i do not recommend it just i have always done it.

There is something rather therapeutic about hitting something regularly and hard with a hefty mallet.
A bit like bulling boots.

Both of which I really enjoy
