Bat Shoulder Cracked - Advice Needed
« on: January 03, 2014, 10:07:24 PM »

Hi Guys,

Unfortunately i have managed to crack the shoulder of my bat. I've uploaded a pic of the crack for you guys to see.

I just wanted some advice really. Can this get fixed? If yes are there any bat repairers on this forum? Or should i not bother?

Take it easy on me guys as i'm new!

Btw this is great forum :D

Cheers,
Haseeb

The site does not support picture uploads.

You will need to register with photobucket.com and upload pix there. Then use the forum link and paste that into your message.

Looks fixable to me.

Where are you based? Might be best if you can take to show one of them.

I live in Oldham(Near Manchester) or if any bat repairer is near the Northampton area that would be good because my brother works there.

Closest sponsor would probably be Vitas in Peterborough.

Ryan (Kelsall Custom Bats) is Wakefield-type way, which isn't too far from Oldham

errmm.. i think visiting them might be out of the question as they are quite far away.

I think i'll have to post my bat to a repairer  :(

What are the prices that are charged for repair?

If I'm honest mate from my perspective I think it will be repairable but not to sure it will last that well. There a bit harder whe the do up towards the handle and even through the handle under binding like it looks like in that pic.

Glue it with pva glue get it deep into the crack and clamp it. Then put a down through the shoulder and glue the dowl in place. Get bat tape then strap round the glued area. If no one offers let me know and I'll try and fixit for you but you will need to pay postage costs.

It can be fixed. My Salix Pod went the same way. Solitaire repaired it for me last season and although it doesn't sound right when the ball hits the splice its back to its best and goes like stink! Cost about £30 for the repair and full refurb.
